In the quest to align the business with the current economic dispensation, Turnall Fibre Cement senior management spent three days on a strategic planning workshop early this year in the resort town of Kariba.
The workshop, held from 12 to 14 February and faIn the quest to align the business with the current economic dispensation, Turnall Fibre Cement senior management spent three days on a strategic planning workshop early this year in the resort town of Kariba.cilitated by reputable accounting firm Ernst & Young, was a rigorous exercise that saw participants sleeping late in the night to complete assignments.
The main objective of the workshop was to develop a Strategy Plan for the period of March to December 2010. The sub-objectives were defined as follows:
a) Review current state – “where we are now”,
b) Design future state – “where we are going”.
Participants were also taken through presentations on Employee survey findings, which had been done prior to the workshop; Global trends on Chrysotile use; and Market survey findings, also done ahead of the workshop.
After the three days participants had successfully developed strategic objectives and initiatives for 2010. To ensure implementation, Turnall management agreed to roles and responsibilities for the people to carry through the objectives and responsibilities.
They also agreed on the resources, both financial and people, required to handle the tasks as well as to review the structure to ensure alignment with the strategy.
