COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Our vision and values act as our guiding principles that direct our efforts towards creating a sustainable and mutually beneficial relationship with all our stakeholders. Through the three International Standard Organization (ISO) standards that we proudly attained on top of the Standard Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) mark, we have demonstrated our commitment to be a good corporate citizen. We are active participants in making donations, sponsorships as well as community awareness campaigns that are done through road shows.
Donations As a responsible corporate citizen we do not earn profits and just sit back, instead we plough back our earnings back into the community around us. We have actively participated in different funds raising programs for the socially, economically and physically disadvantaged. Such initiatives have seen us making substantial donations towards different cities and towns' Mayors Christmas Cheer Funds. 2005 saw Turnall making a donation to the Harare and Bulawayo Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund. Apart from that we also made donations to Harare Children’s Home. We have also taken the initiative to sponsor universities and schools. Road shows Every year Turnall organizes some indoor road shows in major centers around Zimbabwe. The objective of such shows is to improve the awareness of issues surrounding the safe usage and handling of products made from Chrysotile asbestos fibre. The majority of the audiences invited at these road shows are our major customers or distributors, engineers, architects, polytechnic and university students. The audience is expected to disseminate the information to the end users that may not be aware of the asbestos issues being mystified by the anti-asbestos lobbyists from western countries.
Golf day 2005 saw Turnall venturing in to something that had never been done before, golf day that was held sometime in October. The day provided an informal arena for business people form different backgrounds to share experiences and for Turnall to say thank you to all the stakeholders for supporting the company through and through. The tournament was a success and it is actually going to become an annual event.
